Security review is starting to look less like a scheduled audit and more like an AI agent sitting directly in the commit path. Mozilla used Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview inside an agentic security testing pipeline for Firefox. The agent didn’t just suggest where humans should look. It generated test cases, ran them, validated the results, and helped filter out false positives. The result: 271 previously unknown vulnerabilities found in Firefox 150, including bugs that had reportedly survived for up to 20 years. The important part is not simply “AI found bugs.” The real shift is that the agent tested its own hypotheses and reduced the human bottleneck that usually slows deep security work. That changes security from periodic cleanup after code has already grown messy into continuous enforcement before new code lands. Mozilla now plans to automatically check every new code commit before it is merged. If this becomes normal, security teams will spend less time triaging noisy reports and more time deciding which risks actually matter.
