I’m not sure what happened in the past week but it’s suddenly gotten a lot worse and unstable. It crashes. It’s slow. It’s difficult to share things. What happened?
The news coverage is fine and well known, but my goodness somebody needs to read the articles before they’re put online. Words all joined together, random repetition of letter, some article you just give up, thinking how a six year old must have written it. A terrible attempt at online publishing. Considering scrapping subscription and reading something by a computer that can spell. Shocking
Content is decent but the app is so glitchy. It just jumps around for no reason let me read the damn article
Good news
I’m extremely frustrated with the login experience on the Financial Times app for iPhone, especially when using university Single Sign-On (SSO). The app redirects to an in-app browser to complete the university login, and the authentication itself appears to work perfectly. However, when returning to the app, it does not recognize that I’ve successfully signed in. There’s no error message, no feedback — it simply leaves me logged out as if nothing happened. I’ve tried multiple fixes including clearing cookies, changing Safari settings, reinstalling the app, and logging in via Safari first. Nothing resolves the issue. The core problem seems to be that the app fails to properly handle or receive the authentication session from the SSO flow. This makes the app effectively unusable for students accessing FT through their university, which is a major use case. It’s particularly disappointing given the quality of FT’s journalism — the app experience does not match the content. Please fix the SSO integration so that login sessions persist correctly when returning from the browser. At the very least, provide a clear error message or guidance instead of silently failing. Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend the app to anyone relying on institutional access.
The reporting is second to none. Too bad the app is laggy and constantly loses your place on the page.
This is my go to source for in-depth, unbiased news. But all of a sudden over the past few days the “feed” in the app is failing to update, leaving me with no access to curated stories. I can access them only by deleting and reinstalling the app, which is not sustainable. Something needs fixing, fast!
Please bring back the ability to see a news feed based on latest published or updates. Recommended feed is fine but why does need to come at the cost of the chronological feed? Once you have read an article why does it need to show in your recommended feed?
I really enjoy the articles, but have not been able to share any for some months now. Frustrating. Nothing happens when I press the ‘share’ tab. I’ve tried reinstalling the app. Is it just me?
No longer balanced – nor has it been for several years – having enthusiastically embraced all manner of tired rightthink. After thusly self-lobotomising, the FT is today exceptional only in its zombified conformity. Though keen to maintain the pretence of its erstwhile independence, this is to be understood merely as an exercise in branding: the FT’s just one paper among many in an undifferentiated herd of modern media mediocrities, another relic living on the glories of its ever-more-distant past. I have cancelled after nearly 34 years subscribing.
